- "E" (Editor) Command Help Screen
- ================================
-
- You can use your own ASCII editor to quickly edit or modify any of
- the ASCII files in the hypertext system.
-
- When a file is displayed, press the "E" key. This calls up a command
- line, defaulting to the name of the last editor used, and followed
- by the name of the current (displayed) file.
-
- If the editor name is wrong, simply enter the name of your editor,
- and reenter the name of the displayed file (which will blank out),
- and then press RETURN. For example,
- edlin {filename} (RETURN)
-
- You will go directly into your editor, and can modify the file.
-
- When you save the file and exit the editor, you will see the file as
- it was loaded and displayed, prior to edit. To see the new version,
- use left arrow to backtrack, and then jump back to the file. You'll
- see the new version when it is reloaded.
